LIVE NOW
Chat now has a safety layer around it. Anyone in a conversation can report a message, club admins get a review queue, and messages containing concerning language are flagged automatically. You can also archive conversations you’re finished with.
Who can use it: everyone can report a message and archive a conversation. The review queue and message removal are club admins only. Where to find it: the chat panel, and top nav → Communications → Reported Messages.
Archive a conversation
Conversations you’re done with no longer have to sit at the top of your list.
- Tap the archive icon on any conversation to hide it from your list.
- Find them again under Archived at the top of the chat panel, and restore any of them.
- If someone sends a new message to an archived conversation, it comes straight back.
Archiving only affects your list. Nobody else sees anything change, and no messages are deleted — which is why the control says "archive" and not "delete".
Report a message
Anyone in a conversation can report a message they’re concerned about — tap the flag icon next to it and pick a reason. Safety concerns and harassment go to the top of the club’s review queue.
The person who sent the message isn’t told who reported it, and you won’t be told whether anyone else reported the same message or what the club decided. That’s deliberate: it keeps reporting something people feel safe doing.
For club admins: the review queue
Communications → Reported Messages shows everything reported by members and everything flagged automatically, in one list. The most urgent items sort to the top, and within a severity the ones that have been waiting longest come first.
The page shows how long the oldest unreviewed report has been sitting, because that’s the number that matters — a report nobody has looked at is the one that causes problems.
For each item you can mark it handled, mark that no action was needed, or open the conversation to read it in context and remove the message.
Please note: to act on a report, a club admin can open that conversation and read it, including direct messages they’re not part of. Every time that happens it’s recorded — who opened it, when, and which report justified it. Chat in Teams Elevated is not private from your club’s administrators.
Removing a message
Club admins can remove a message from a conversation. When they do, everyone in the thread sees "Message removed by an administrator" where it used to be.
The message doesn’t silently disappear, and nobody — not even the person who wrote it — can quietly delete their own messages. Every removal is recorded in the club’s audit log.
Automatic flagging
Messages are checked as they’re sent and flagged for review when they contain profanity, slurs, or the patterns that matter most in youth sports: someone asking a young athlete to keep a conversation secret, sharing a personal phone number or email, or moving the conversation to another app.
Nothing is blocked, changed, or hidden from anyone. A flag only adds an item to the club’s review queue.
Coaches and athletes
Direct messages in Teams Elevated are between coaches and the crew (parents and guardians). Coaches cannot start a private conversation with an athlete.
How long messages are kept
Chat messages are retained under your club’s data retention policy, and messages removed by an administrator are permanently deleted after a short review window.
What’s coming next
- A summary you can share with your board or insurer: how many reports came in, how many were reviewed, and what was done.
- More automatic flagging patterns as we see what clubs actually need.
